Abstract
Many studies have shown that land use can alter streamflow characteristics, such as peak flow, low flow and total yield. However, the degree to which these characteristics are altered varies widely. The purpose of this essay is not to study land use, as such, but to examine differences which exist between catchments in an attempt to better understand the reasons for the wide differences in hydrologic response to land use.
