Visitors' attitudes to the recreation resources of the Mackenzie Basin

    Gibbons, Pauline L.
    Abstract
The following report contains a summary of the results of a survey of visitors' attitudes to recreation resources of the Mackenzie Basin. The study was undertaken for the reason that while the resources of the Mackenzie Basin are primarily used for recreation, little data has been collected on these recreational resources. The study does not attempt to analyse the recreation activities in the Mackenzie Basin. Instead, it attempts to discover how the visitors to the Mackenzie Basin perceive the environment. That is, it attempts to establish the visitors' attitudes to the recreational resources of the Mackenzie Basin. It is possible to distinguish four principal objectives within the overall aim of the study. These involve finding out: 1. Whether the visitors are satisfied with the recreation resources of the Mackenzie Basin . 2. If development would affect the visitors’ perception of the Mackenzie Basin. 3. What visitors value about the environment. 4. If there are differences in attitudes and opinions between visitors of differing recreation activities, age and occupational status....
