Abstract
Commitment, as a concept , includes elements such as, an obligation and a willingness to exerts considerable (extra) effort, yet, while the general literature suggests what commitment is and how it can be enhanced, less is known about what ‘impacts’. The hotel industry is interested in the commitment concept mainly due to lowering employee turnover costs – and end point, however, this research focuses on the front end of commitment, seeking to understand what impacts commitment, namely: infra-organisational communication, trust, influence and social relations between employees, employees and managers and vice versa
