Abstract
The Avon Otakaro River is an ecological network that moves from the suburban west, then into Hagley Park and the CBD, before weaving and widening its way through the Red Zone before reaching the Avon Heathcote Estuary on its journey to the sea. Along its banks are sites of deep ecological, cultural and social significance.
