Abstract
This research looks at the potential future net demand for another golf resort facility in the Canterbury Region over the next 5-10 years.
The New Zealand tourist industry is currently regarded as being in recovery from the Asian downturn with excellent growth prospects for the future.
In terms of future supply, there are two golf resort proposals currently under development in the Canterbury Region.
Despite strong prospects for growth in the tourism and golf industries this study concludes there is unlikely to be sufficient demand to warrant further development in this time frame.
The study will consider existing literature on the areas of tourism, economics and golf from both national and international sources. This information will be combined with the results of first hand interviews with a cross section of "experts" in relevant sectors.
The conclusions and recommendations will be of particular interest and benefit to parties involved in tourism, golf and property development
