Abstract

The Golden Jubilee year celebrations of the Institute of Food Science and Technology (IFST) start this month, and the International Journal of Food Science and Technology sends our congratulations and thanks for the past 50 years of dedication to the advancement of food research and innovation. No one will dispute that the food industry is a challenging and fast-paced environment. Trends in the food industry for 2014 show attention firmly fixed on food security, ingredient selection and the manipulation of processing to improve the nutritional well-being of consumers. IFST represents an authoritative body of technologists and researchers with a passion for providing safe and nutritious foods to the world. The International Journal of Food Science and Technology (IJFST) is pleased to be one of the many vehicles by which IFST transfers its mass of theoretical knowledge into applied solutions.
