Growth of field bean ( Vicia faba, L.) following seed treatment with paclobutrazol: A dissertation submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Agricultural Science (Honours) in the University of Canterbury

Abstract

The effect of the plant growth regulator, paclobutrazol, applied as a seed treatment, on field bean ( Vicia faba L. ) was investigated in a series of five experiments. It was concluded that treating seed with paclobutrazol was an effective means of reducing plant growth, using a minimum of chemical material. A more complete field evaluation involving growth of plants to reproductive maturity is necessary to support the results found in this initial study.
