The effects of housing on pre weaning mortality in pigs: A dissertation submitted in partial fulfilment of the Diploma in Farm Management at Lincoln University

Abstract
Pre-weaning mortality (PWM) in pigs is the most significant problem in the pig producing industry in New Zealand. The major cause of the problem is that of inadequate housing of piglets allowing death to occur from crushing undesirable environment and generally poorly constructed farrowing crates. These factors were high lighted in study which was carried out comparing the housing designs and of two properties and the they had on PWM.
