Abstract
The aim of this essay is to develop a landscape
framework for the co-ordination of non-urban informal
outdoor recreational provision in central Canterbury. The
following objectives were defined:
To examine the concepts of recreational systems and
planning at a number of scales from a landscape
perspective.
To extend current recreational theory to include the
landscape.
To identify opportunities for development of a
recreational framework for central Canterbury.
