Abstract
The objectives were to assess the effects on fruit red colour development of the recommended standard double pruning management practice, in comparison with the other pruning treatments. Light transmitted through the canopy to individual apples was quantified using a quantum sensor so the relationship between the red blush, monitored during the 24 days from late pruning till harvest (full bloom plus 132 days), could be examined.
