Abstract
Over the past two years the Agricultural Economics Research Unit (AERU) has continued to assist by way of economic research those groups involved in the many aspects of New Zealand farm production and product processing, distribution and marketing. The main objective of this Review is to present abstracts of agricultural economics and management research recently carried out at Lincoln College. The intention is that the abstracts will give a reasonably comprehensive account of research completed or in progress. It is tioped that this information will be of value to decision makers associated with New Zealand agriculture. The review has two major parts. The first part is made up of an article by Sir Charles Hilgendorf, recently retired Chairman of the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board. The article gives a historical as well as contemporary, view of meat production and marketing in New Zealand. The second part presents abstracts of research studies which have been recently completed or which are in progress in the AERU and the two associated teaching departments at Lincoln College. Some contributions from staff members in other College departments involved in research with clear economic/management implications are gratefully acknowledged.
