Abstract
This manual is a revised and updated version of the handbook that was originally produced for the first Australasian Soil Judging Contest that was held in 2016 in Wanaka, New Zealand (Smith et al., 2016). This adaptation is based on experience gained from Lincoln University’s participation in previous soil judging competitions (Wanaka, New Zealand, 2016 – Toowoomba, Australia, 2017 – Canberra, Australia, 2018 – Adelaide, Australia, 2019 – Napier, New Zealand, 2019 – Golden Bay, New Zealand 2020). It is also tailored to the curriculum for “Soil Skills for Professionals” (SOSC901), designed to meet the skills required by scientists in the land-based sector in New Zealand.
