Abstract
The main aim of this study is to produce a visual evaluation system for residential streets. In order to produce a system that has any validity, it has first been necessary to achieve an understanding off the visual principles involved. These have been identified and analysed in the context of a number of Christchurch streets. A system of evaluation has then been proposed and applied to several streets.
