Abstract
Daniel Sperling has a dream. It is a dream of a much better transportation system than the one broadly shared by many developed countries today. It is a dream of shared, electric, automated transport that is more equitable, “environmentally benign”, safer, and more cost effective than our common contemporary dependence on private combustion driven vehicles. Three Revolutions is written in an upliftingly optimistic tone, while acknowledging the many potential pitfalls along the way to a better transportation future. Sperling and his co-contributors squarely place the responsibility for navigating our way to a positive future on public policy makers. Accordingly, in support of effective public policy making, all but the last two chapters conclude with a concrete list of Key Policy Strategies; these sections constitute a major contribution to current literature.
