Abstract
Experimental work in growth cabinets is generally based on the assumptions that conditions within a cabinet are uniform and that cabinets set at the same control values give similar results. The aims of the experiments reported in this thesis were to investigate these two assumptions and, if they were found to be invalid, to provide information on techniques of experimental design to reduce the effects.
