Abstract
The project ‘Putting the Ag in the Enviro’ aims to create professional development course to provide non-agriculturalists with an understanding of farming. This could assist them to use their environmental expertise to support farmers with the implementation of the Essential Freshwater package. This study aimed to gather employers’ views on the knowledge, skills, and attitudes they needed in staff working with farmers in the area of farm environmental management. Employers’ views were gathered via interviewing 22 participants from a range of organisations, from regional councils and farm consultancy to accountancy firms. The interviews were analysed for themes relating to the knowledge, skill, and attitudinal requirements. The project Advisory Group then reviewed and provided feedback on the findings.
