Development and deployment of a high throughput genotyping method for identification and characterisation of transposon-induced mutations

Abstract

The aim of this project is to develop capabilities necessary for the production and characterisation of new Sauvignon blanc and Pinot noir clones. We are using molecular techniques to identify potentially valuable new trait changes among vines that have undergone an accelerated rate of natural genetic change. This report summarises experiments performed in the initial stages of the project which are focussed on developing a tool to characterise genetic differences among vines caused by mobile DNA elements known as transposons.
