Abstract
Lucerne is harvested as hay to provide a year round supply for cattle and sheep. However, the conventional methods of haymaking and ensiling are often wasteful due to leaf shattering, rain leaching, surface spoilage and fermentation. The development of dehydration and pelleting serves to reduce such losses as well as providing for better utilisation of the feed.
