Abstract
The objective of this thesis is to utilize spatial economic analysis to satisfy anticipated 1974 electricity demands in Christchurch in the most economical way possible. Chapter II deals briefly with the electricity supply industry in general, and then proceeds to state the specific problem to be analysed. Chapter III outlines the theoretical considerations of relevance to this study. The operational models and methodologies that have been used in spatial economics are reviewed in Chapter IV, and the model and methodology most suited to this problem, is chosen. Chapter V details the development of data for input to the model, whilst Chapter VI concludes the thesis with the presentation and discussion of results.
