Abstract
A consideration of a soil fungus - Actinomycete growth relationship has been made in which:- 1. It was shown that the condition occurred in 1087 of 1765 microscopic fields examined showing Rhizoctonia hyphae. 2. The association was considered to be biochemical in nature and metabiotic in favour of Actinomycetales, characterised at a later stage by the development of a characteristic physical or mechanical phase. 3. It was thought that the particular form of association may contribute to a further understanding of the inter-relations of organisms in natural soil and to this end suggestions were made for investigating saprophytic and parasitic activities of the members of the association.
