Abstract
The objective of this study is to predict how much tree shade reduces heat stress in dairy cows using two published models which predict when heat stress will occur in dairy cows. The reduced solar radiation incident on a dairy cow in shaded conditions compared with the open should result in the models predicting a lower level of heat stress for that cow.
