Abstract
Lysozyme-resistance was developed by growing the organism in the presence of the enzyme. Cell walls from the resistant and sensitive organisms were prepared. Chemical analysis of these walls was carried out to determine any major differences which could be related to the mechanism of resistance to the enzyme. The teichoic acid from the walls of the sensitive organism was extracted and partially characterized.
