Abstract
This report explores the relationships between science and ethics. I propose that our science is governed by an ethical system which is outdated and inappropriate for the task.
Findings in the field of sub-atomic physics indicate the world is made up of interconnected and interdependent systems at the most fundamental level. As this is our best scientific knowledge, any discipline not based on a similar holistic world-view is not 'scientific'.
A case study of government science restructuring in New Zealand illustrates how one 'unscientific' discipline (economics) is being used to determine the role of science. This is likely to hinder the advancement of good science thus leading to poorer scientific modelling for other disciplines.
In my conclusion I state the importance of society adopting a scientific systems world-view and call for more 'scientific' thinking by society at large.
