Abstract
Recent concern on increased levels of accidents to children falling from play equipment and the seriousness of these accidents, has led to the need for more research into the area of resilient undersurfacing materials available in New Zealand for playground surfacing. The objective of this dissertation is to install a range of surface materials available here in New Zealand. Evaluations will then be carried out on factors such as - ease of installation, ease of availability and cost. Unfortunately it will not be possible to cover factors such as resilience and durability in this dissertation. These will be included in evaluations to be carried out at a later date.
