Abstract
Despite its title, this is a book of global relevance and significance. The Canterbury experience forms an extended and critically examined case study in the implementation of an advanced sustainability framework to freshwater resource management. In exploring this case, the book provides an in-depth and absorbing analysis of nested adaptive systems thinking and, especially, the application of collaborative approaches to water resource management at multiple scales.
