Abstract
The main aim of this project was to engage and excite young minds in agriculture to solve global issues faced in the future by a DIY (do it yourself) attitude. Students in high school and first year undergraduate were tasked with solving a global issue with the use of Arduinos and inexpensive technology. Readily accessible and easy to understand technology has been proven to be effective for knowledge uptake, knowledge transfer, creativity, and lifelong learning. Through the use of this method, students received immediate feedback, carried their learning outside the classroom, and developed confidence in technology and science. The results presented will be a summary of the concept, approach and the delivery. Feedback from surveys from students will also be present and discussed. For students to be engaged in their education, we as educators need to put technology and science into their hands.
