Abstract

We report on some new developments of local, national and international interest. We report on the National Policy Statement for the High Country Workshop, research from Lincoln University, news from the Department of Conservation, conferences and activities. Our international involvement in the Asia Pacific Mountain Network is outlined and details of the CMS funded Struthers Scholarship provided. Some of the abstracts from the recently published Mountains of East Asia and the Pacific are reprinted as well as the abstract from Safeguarding the life supporting capacity of soil and ecosystems: A survey of the role of high country soil fertility research, by K.F.
