Abstract
Welcome to the 53rd volume of the International Journal of Food Science and Technology (IJFST); 2018 is set to be an interesting year for the International Journal of Food Science and Technology, and we will build on our strong performance in terms of our rise in impact factor announced in July 2017 as well as the increasing amount of electronic downloads our articles receive each month. The excitement comes from the models we run each year to predict the impact factor the journal will receive in the following year. As of November 2017, data indicate another increase in the journal's impact factor, this time by over 30%. I must thank all the authors, reviewers and editors for their contributions to the success of the journal leading to our ability to publish high‐quality, citable and novel research articles. During the last 2 years, we have published an increasing number of insightful papers which have become highly cited. To celebrate this achievement, six virtual issues will be published during the first 6 months of the year. Each issue will be themed to represent trends in research we have observed during the last 2 years.
