Abstract
Aims and objectives of the thesis
i. To determine guidelines for the selection and establishment of plant material on sanitary landfill sites based on the trials carried out at the Meola Reef site.
ii. Discuss the final land use of sanitary landfills and discuss the potential of such sites for public outdoor recreation.
iii. To investigate the natural history and climatic factors of the Meola Reef.
iv. Investigate.the construction of the Meola Reef sanitary landfill and the resultant conditions affecting the establishment of vegetation.
v. To analyse the results of established plant material on the Meola Reef site.
vi. Investigate methods of improving sanitary landfill construction to facilitate for the establishment of ornamental vegetation.
