Abstract
This dissertation is compiled giving a detailed account of bowling greens in New Zealand. The analysis given provides a comprehensive study of the factors involved in the preparation, maintenance and renovation of greens. Owing to the quality of turf required for outdoor bowling, it is essential that greens be of the highest order and therefore their care is an integral part of the sport. Conditions in New Zealand are favourable for producing good turfed greens and with the modern machinery available, a high standard can be maintained. It is also fortunate that the availability of chemical preparations helps in the control of pests and diseases. In introducing this dissertation then readers are provided with a technical view to the sport in New Zealand and it will be of great use to Parks Departments and green keepers throughout the country.
