Abstract
Papers presented at the 4th Animal Industries Workshop at Lincoln College on 'Sire and Breed Selection' discuss principles and practices available to farmers wanting to improve their flock/herd productivity through animal breeding techniques. Although most examples used in these papers are drawn from the cattle and sheep industries, the principles outlined are relevant to any animal production system. Authors of papers for this workshop include University lecturers, leading scientists and extension workers in the field of animal genetics and breeding in New Zealand.
It is hoped that this book summarises present knowledge on sire and breed and will provide a useful text for a wide range of readers.
