Abstract
The theme of this thesis is to determine the influence that the "time of planting", and "open grown" (0/G) versus "containerised" (cont) growing, has on the establishment of native plants in Northland. The emphasis has been on the influence that the unique climatic conditions experienced in this region have on the survival and growth of newly established plants. The practical work carried out has achieved these objectives and has also resulted in much useful information being forthcoming on the cultural requirements of the native species used in the trial.
