Abstract
This report explores ways by which that 'experience' can be made into a realistic and useful alternative. It deals with ways utilising motivated people to help staff develop our parks more completely while providing both an educational and useful experience at little cost. It looks to overseas examples for ways of integrating and involving youth in real and meaningful projects which are not directly supported by central government. It also offers an outline of what is needed and a collection of some problems and resistance specifically related to the New Zealand scene, which must be overcome if a project of this nature is to be fully implemented.
