Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the potassium status of a selection of Canterbury soils and to relate differences in potassium status with variations in the soil-forming factors. Careful selection of sites and incorporation of the soil sequence technique has been used to reduce the variable soil-forming factors to two and allow isolation of the effect of each. The depletive effect of man on soil potassium status has also been investigated.
