The postcolonial possibility of restoration
The recognition of environmental damage is widespread. Countries that were colonised in the rush of the nineteenth century have fared badly under colonial supplanting of ecosystems. The role of the spatialisation in these processes is investigated. Thirdspace is linked with place and the margin, wherever it may occur. Restoration must recognise the reasons for its necessity in order that it may fulfil its potential as Thirdspatial site. Restored sites are posited as places of possibility.
