Effect of wind on plant morphology : dissertation submitted for Diploma in Horticultural Science [Lincoln College]
The aim of the experiment was to investigate the effect of two wind speeds (0.5 m/s and 2 m/s) on the morphology of broad bean (Vicia faba) and barley (Hordeum sativa) plants and to substantiate results found in previous experiments. Two contrasting plants were selected: barley - presumed to be adapted to wind and wind pollinated; broad bean - presumed to be sensitive to wind and insect pollinated. Experiments were carried out for a greater period of time than in previous studies. Also, observations were made as to the level of plant injury.
