Kaikoura rock lobster fishery : an evaluation of the fishery and future management options

    Slark, M.
    Abstract

Present management restrictions are unable to solve these problems and there is now a widely accepted need to implement alternative management controls. Much uncertainty exists, however what represents the most desirable management strategy for these fisheries. This research focuses on the Kaikoura fishery to examine the underlying causes of the problems presently facing many of New Zealand's rock lobster fisheries. Biological, economic and social aspects of the fishery are evaluated to determine the state of the fishery in 1984.
