Abstract
The relationship between mining and agriculture has changed considerably over the last century. This paper briefly examines the history of this relationship with an emphasis on the present-day. The central theme the poorly developed state of mineral resource policy and its contribution to the magnitude of conflict. Existing legislation is examined to illustrate the practice of conflict resolution and the principles implicit in its interpretation.
