Peel Forest Park within the environment of the Geraldine County: a major design study [dissertation] submitted for the requirements of Diploma in Landscape Architecture at Lincoln College, University of Canterbury
Abstract
The Peel Forest Park Board are desirous of establishing a comprehensive plan for Peel Forest Park, in accordance with the policies of the Scenic Reserves Act, and in the interest of the general populace who use the area.
While the Forest is significant as a remnant podocarp - broadleaf type, its relationship is not clear when considered with the geographic, visual and recreational opportunities offered by the associated reserves and the Geraldine County as a whole.
An area such as Peel Forest never stands alone but is influenced by the surrounding countryside. Therefore; when planning it is necessary to look from the larger regional scale to the smaller to ensure that planning is integrated and not unrelated.
