    Sixth Form Certificate physical education, Hillmorton High School

    Abstract
    Physical education is offered as a subject in the Sixth Form in the Group II category. That is, while it is not prescribed for University Entrance, it has been approved for Sixth Form Certificate. Because of the nature of the subject there is no overall syllabus that schools must follow. If a school wishes to offer Sixth Form Certificate physical education it submits its proposed curriculum to the Department of Education (Inspector of Secondary Schools) who either accepts, refuses or alters the curriculum. Over the past eighteen months there have been moves towards standardising physical education over all schools from J1 to Seventh Form and this would undoubtedly involve Sixth Form Certificate physical education. However as it stands at the moment, each school's course is different because of their different localities with different opportunities, teacher skills and needs. The Department of Education has produced a booklet entitled "Physical Education - Guidelines for Introducing a Sixth Form Certificate Course."
