Windsurfing can be very frustrating to the beginner as when you first try the sport you feel very clumsy and awkward. This is emphasised by the fact that it looks very easy to the onlooker. By beginning with some instruction from either a professional instructor or a friend the basics can be mastered in a matter of hours as once you get the idea it seems to come together very quickly. But then later as you improve your skills seem to level out and you slow down or even stop making the rapid advancements in technique. It is beneficial to turn to a professional instructor or someone who really understands the sport and can explain it well. Books may be read but any amount of reading is not going to improve your technique like seeing someone demonstrate what you are trying to achieve. Like most things the practical side is far more beneficial to you than the theoretical.en
