Abstract
The purpose of this dissertation is to guide the recreation worker into techniques and methods, to people who can help, and to create an awareness of what promotion is all about. Promotion is a special form of communication. It is the process of presenting a message to selected audiences in order to create interest or give information about a product. In this dissertation the product is recreation. In this dissertation I talk about programmes. I have used this one word for convenience. For the purpose of this dissertation it means any activity, event or happening, or any combination of these. The last definition is of the recreation worker. He or she is the person who plans the programme in the recreation field for the purposes of this dissertation.
