Abstract
Previously published information on the soil pattern of Hunua is reviewed and Griffiths' (1978, 1980) delineation of Baldon and Hurunui soil sets is questioned. The soils of the subdivision's surveyed can be described in terms of three soil morphologically determined soil profile classes. These soil profile classes are distributed in a predictable pattern on hill slopes according to the pattern of six major physiographic strata.
