Effect of accelerated curing and admixtures on concrete shrinkage

Abstract

The magnitude and rate of concrete shrinkage depends on various factors including the mix design, admixtures, curing process, and environmental conditions. In this research an experimental investigation is undertaken where the effect of admixtures and the accelerated curing condition on the concrete shrinkage behaviour and compressive strength were examined. Three high-strength concrete mix designs (containing shrinkage reducer or accelerator) and two curing conditions including the normal standard curing and steam curing were replicated to compare the shrinkage and strength results.
