Problems with milking shed waste disposal in New Zealand

Abstract

Recent legislation which prohibits farmers from discharging animal wastes directly into streams has led to a reappraisal of traditional methods and a search for new methods of waste treatment. Also modern farming methods, which tend to concentrate greater numbers of animals on to smaller areas of land, have created additional problems.
