Abstract
Increasing concern has been expressed recently about the noise levels to which drivers of tractors fitted with safety frames are exposed. As a result the New Zealand Agricultural Engineering Institute was requested by the Minister of Agriculture to investigate the problem. This report describes an investigation. of noise levels when several commercially available safety frames were fitted to three common models of tractor. The Occupational Health Unit of the Department of Health was associated with the N.Z.A.E.I. in this project and their comments on the effects of these noise levels on tractor drives are included. The cooperation of Dr. J.F. Copplestone in this regard is gratefully acknowledged.
