Abstract
At the time of his death in mid 1964 Mr. H. E. Garrett, Associate Professor of Farm Management, was using these notes as an introduction to his Farm Management course for the Diploma of Valuation and Farm Management. It had been his intention to edit and revise them as an introductory text for this course.
There is a considerable demand for this material by both current and past students. It has been decided to issue it in its present form as a distinguishable memento of a man who in his forthright style made, through his students, a wide and lasting contribution to farm management in New Zealand.
A complete editing of the material would have involved a lot of work, and furthermore would have altered Mr. Garrett's inimitable style of lecturing. It was therefore decided to issue it in its original form, for use by current students and for issue to past students who desire it.
Chapter IV, on Capital, was written originally and has been revised by Mr. M. B. Cooke, Senior Lecturer in Valuation.
