In most circumstances a drainage improvement scheme can be divided into five separate but inter-related components. These are as follows: (1) the need for drainage (2) soil-water-plant relationships (3) selection of method and engineering design (4) field operations (5) management and maintenance This paper is concerned with certain aspects of maintenance and with particular reference to mole drainage renewal.
