Abstract
Herbivores are central to ecology, agriculture, and culture, shaping landscapes while providing food, wealth, and multiple ecosystem services (Provenza et al., 2016; Gregorini et al., 2017). The International Symposium on Herbivore Nutrition (ISNH) has, for four decades, been the leading scientific forum to address these themes. From its beginnings in South Africa in 1983, the symposium has steadily broadened in scope—from discussions of nutrition ecology and intake regulation to more global questions about food security, climate change, ecosystem services, and the role of herbivores in human well-being
