Abstract
This study explores the role and value of urban community gardens following amajor crisis: the 2010/11 earthquakes in Christchurch, New Zealand. New Zealandis located within the ‘Ring of Fire’, a vast horseshoe-shaped area around the PacificOcean, and the world’s most active seismic region accounting for about 80 percentof the largest earthquakes (USGS 2016).
